A Pennsylvania state trooper has been charged with possession of illegal substances.

Trooper Jeffrey Dillig of Kennett Square is assigned to the Avondale State Police Barracks in Chester County.

Authorities said steroids and syringes were recovered from a van that Dillig reported stolen. They said Dillig tested positive for anabolic steroids and his DNA was found on a syringe recovered from the van.

Dillig has been suspended without pay pending resolution of the charges.
